"ALL THE SINGLE LADIES" STAGE PLAY
Immediate Press Release
RED CARPET PREMIERE: ALL THE SINGLE LADIES
Chicago, IL – July 6, 2011 – On Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Harold Washington Cultural Center at 8pm nightly, John Ruffin, writer/director of hit stage plays, Love Me or Leave Me and The Ideal Husband, will produce his latest stage play, All My Single Ladies. All My Single Ladies has an all-star cast of Darrin DeWitt Henson, from the movie, Soul Food and Stump the Yard, Terrell Carter from Tyler Perry’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman, DeWayne Woods, Gospel Recording Artist “Let Go, Let God”, Richard Gallion, from John Ruffin’s Love Me or Leave Me and The Ideal Husband and Chris Bolton from David Talbert’s Mr. Right Now.
All My Single Ladies is a powerful and inspirational musical stage play based on the past and present relationships between men and women. All My Single Ladies deals with the issues of love, lust, redemption and how far people will actually go in the name of love.
Regina Channel, has been living with her boyfriend Eric for five years waiting for the day he would ask her to marry him. Regina, who has tolerated Eric’s past tirades, decides one day she can’t take it any longer and she moves out. Now five years later, Regina seemingly has herself together. She has a great job, working at WKIT-FM hosting her own radio talk show called “All My Single Ladies”, a nice condo living with her sister Tiffany and seemingly a balanced life. After attending her “ugly” cousins wedding, Ms. Freda Channel, Regina’s mother, puts the squeeze on Regina to find a mate and get married. Unbeknownst to Freda, Frazier Roberts, Regina’s co-worker at the radio station who also helped her find the job, finds himself falling in love with Regina…But will Regina only see him as a friend? Especially, after Eric returns to the scene has the stakes been raised to win over the heart of Regina?
Time has passed, now, Eric wants Regina back and Regina wants Eric to love her as much as she thinks she loves him. Will it happen? Will Regina fall for potential new love? Will Regina’s addiction for Eric’s love outweigh their rocky past? One man she wants, the other one she needs….the drama unfolds.
All My Single Ladies is a musical stage play with a strong message! With plenty of foot-stomping, heart-stopping music, loads of laughs, it’s an emotional roller coaster and a gospel musical that will definitely hit home.
On Friday, August 26 and Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 8pm nightly, All My Single Ladies Inspirational Stage Play comes to the Harold Washington Cultural Center, 4701 S. King Drive for Red Carpet Premier. Advance tickets are $20, regular price tickets are $25 and VIP tickets are $30 which includes a reception, reserved seating and meet and greet after party. USDA Unveils New, Simple Tips to Stay Healthy, Active and Fit
Posted by Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack on June 02, 2011
Today was an exciting day at USDA as I was joined by First Lady Michelle Obama and Surgeon General Dr. Regina Benjamin to unveil USDA's new food icon, MyPlate. The icon is a departure from MyPyramid and serves as a quick, simple reminder to all consumers, built off of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for all Americans.
We all know that what we eat matters - MyPlate offers a visual reminder to make healthy food choices when you choose your next meal. MyPlate can help prioritize food choices by reminding us to make half of our plate fruits and vegetables and shows us the other important food groups for a well-balanced meal: whole grains, lean proteins, and low fat dairy.

My mom means so much to me. She helps me out so much with my boys and always let me use her car when I didn't have one to take my boys to doctors’ appointments, work, and school. I am so blessed to have a Mom like her, not everyone can say they have a great mother. I am so blessed to be one of the lucky ones. When I moved out on my own and didn't have anything in my apartment, but some beds, two end tables, coffee table, and a TV stand, she gave me one of her black leather couches to make my home a little complete. She helps with my truck, helping me get everything all up to date. I love my mother with all my heart and soul she could have given up on me a long time ago, but she didn't, she believes in me! -Kionna Rucker

My mother is deceased. However, she meant class to me. She was the mother of 12 children with 12 distinct personalities, but she knew how to invest in our diversity. By most standards we were poor, but I never knew it because my mother was so prudent and industrious. It seems she knew how to do everything from sewing, to gardening, to canning, to home decorating, and running my dad's barbeque restaurant. A wife par-excellence, talented in song writing and poetry, she composed writings that are yet cited today. A pastor's wife, she also became a National Evangelist after my father's death. She taught us social skills to help us navigate in the new big city, instructing us on how to carry ourselves with the elite; even the proper way to use the many utensils on an elaborate place setting. My mother loved wisdom and reading. I am a college graduate at age 60 because my mother's love for knowledge lives in me. How she managed to pour so much into 12 children, only God knows. I only know that after I see Jesus in heaven, I want to see my mom next. I want to ask her how one person could have so much love for her children. -Lamesa Phea

My mother, Laberta Baker has been an example to not only my sisters and I but to other young women she encounters with wherever she may go. Her spirit is one of purity; she strives to see only the best in every situation. She has taught my sisters and I to honor God before anything, and to never compromise your salvation. My mother defines true beauty both inside and out. This past year alone she has been my biggest support system. She has aided me in raising my child as well as preparing me to be that Proverbs 31 wife, instructing through the good times and bad. She is my queen, my best friend; A woman I hope to imitate in so many aspects. She is a virtuous woman, a with whom I can share with others, and never fails to show me her unfailing love. My mom is my heart and without her I couldn’t imagine how life would be so I thank God every day for blessing me with a mother who remains thirsty for more of him! -Candace Franks
